Meet The WELL tutors

Andrew Cerda

Andrew Cerda

Hello, my name is Andrew and I am a San Diego native. I received my BA in English from CSULB and decided to stay in Long Beach after graduating.  I eventually made my way back to San Diego, and after working for a number of years in the logistics field I decided to take a TESL/TEFL certificate course at CSUSM.  After completing this program I wanted to teach English to adults, so I worked part time as a classroom facilitator and instructor for the American Language Institute at CSUSM. In August 2018, I received my Master's in TESOL from Alliant International University. I enjoy spending time with my wife, reading, watching movies, listening to music, going to the beach and staying active.

Hi! My name is Zahra, and I’m currently a transfer student at SDSU. Although I'm an engineering major, I have always loved English and writing. As a San Diego native, I enjoy all things outdoors, especially trips to the beach. In my free time, I like watching movies, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to meet and work with all of you this semester!

Jiyun Lee

Jiyun (June) Lee

Hello! My name is Jiyun Lee and I am so thrilled to work as a tutor at Miramar College. I moved to San Diego in 2011. After earning a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, I worked with adult ESL students. My desire to become a teacher inspired me to enroll in a TESOL program, and in 2017 graduated from Alliant International University with a Master's degree in TESOL. I enjoy traveling, reading, watching movies, and working out at the gym. Most of all, I like spending time with my husband and two energetic children. I also love to take a walk with my dog. I look forward to meeting all of you in The WELL!

John Stanek

Hello Miramar College students! My name is John and I am very excited to be working as a tutor in The WELL. I am originally from New York and moved to San Diego in 1998. Recently, I lived in Taipei, Taiwan for almost five years and then New York City for a year. In both these cities I was an ESL and TOEFL test prep instructor. I have a BA in Economics/Business Administration from University at Albany (in Upstate New York) and my TESOL Certificate through St. John's University. I am currently researching options in pursuing a Master's degree in TESOL. When I'm not working I like to read, take walks and hikes, do yoga, go to the gym, and spend time with my friends. I hope to see you in The WELL at Miramar College.
