Miramar College to Welcome ACCJC Peer Review Team for Accreditation Evaluation Process

San Diego Miramar College will host a focused site visit from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Peer Review Team on Feb. 29 and March 1, 2024. This visit is a vital component of San Diego Miramar College’s comprehensive evaluation process with ACCJC, which occurs every seven years.

The ACCJC Peer Review Team conducted a thorough examination of San Diego Miramar College's Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) and accompanying evidence. Following this review, the team has identified two core inquiries and one district core inquiry that will be the primary focus of this site visit:

  • The team would like to see an update on the new program review process and further understand how the College assesses learning outcomes for all instructional programs and student and learning support services.
  • The team would like an update on the College’s progress on the disaggregation and analysis of learning outcomes for subpopulations of students. The team would also like to learn more about how these results are used for improvement and how they inform resource allocations.
  • In the matter of District Core Inquiry 1, the college teams would like to better understand how the district 1) regularly evaluates district systems, college roles, and decision-making processes, 2) communicates these results widely, and 3) uses these results as the basis for improvements.

Accreditation by the ACCJC signifies San Diego Miramar College's commitment to continuous quality improvement. This meticulous seven-year process ensures that accredited institutions maintain high standards of educational quality and institutional effectiveness.

“As a student centered college, we have partnered with our ACCJC Peer Review Team in planning for the upcoming focused site visit at the end of the month,” said Dr. Daniel Miramontez, Accreditation Liaison Officer and dean of Institutional Effective at San Diego Miramar College. “The entire college has worked collaboratively to address core inquires. In fact, the evaluation process is meant to provide Miramar College with an understanding of how to better serve our diverse student population in fulfilling our mission statement.”

San Diego Miramar College Articulation Officer and Faculty Co-Chair of the Accreditation-Steering Committee Mara Palma-Sanft added, “Much appreciation and recognition to the Tri-Chair teams, students, and the College community as a whole for their great work and time on this self-evaluation report for the past three years.”
